    About the Ride

In December 2008, Ian Thomas was planning his vacation for 2009. Seeing that the PRISM International Conference was being held, he thought it would be a fun idea to ship his motorcycle to Daytona Beach, FL and ride home – a journey of about 2,500 miles. Riding alone through the countryside conjured up visions of lots of “me time”, until he mentioned it to his wife, Janice.

“Me time” quickly became “us time” as she decided that this was a ride within her capabilities and a family holiday was taking shape. That week, Ian mentioned this to Dennis Barnedt and suggested, as this was no longer a solo venture, that he may wish to join in. Dennis was enthusiastic, as always and quickly suggested that Rob Alston would also like to join us. So the solo ride was now four people and then Dennis had the idea of opening up to everyone and making this a Charity Ride.

Jim Booth, Executive Director of PRISM International, immediately saw the potential and gave approval for this to become the first sponsored charity event for the organization.

Left Coast…Right on Time!

Friday morning and the bikes assembled at a leisurely 7.30am.  After the big mileage day yesterday, today was planned to be a relaxing ride to the finish-line.  As we departed, a small drama ensued as “Mini-Me”Tayler appeared to have lost her wallet.  The main group headed out slowly to an agreed meeting spot about 60 [...]

From Heaven to Hell… and Back.

Thursday was a beautiful morning in Socorro, New Mexico.  Everyone was up early and all the bikes hit the road at 6:30am for the ride to Arizona.   We headed out on Route 60 West with the sun coming up, providing us with an amazing sun rise departure.  “Duracell” Dennis was as excited as a 2-year [...]
